2018 BPV scholarship winners
Bettendorf-Pleasant Valley Youth Baseball awarded the organization’s all-time high with* four college scholarships* in 2018. Each of the annual scholarships is worth $1,000 to graduating local high school seniors.
Candidates are required a minimum of six seasons participating in the BPV. Good academic work is a plus. Community volunteerism, especially in the BPV is heavily weighted.
The four recipients include the winners from Bettendorf High School (Luke Soko) and Pleasant Valley High School (Preston Olson).
The wild-card scholarship was shared by Davenport Assumption’s Joe Starr and Pleasant Valley’s Cameron Johns, one of the BPV’s most valued youth volunteers, helping run the Intro to Kid Pitch division among his numerous good works.
Soko and Olson were each recognized at their respective school’s senior awards ceremony. Starr and Johns were feted prior to the 2018 Seniors All-Star Game.
Congratulations to all of our worthy winners!
