Update regarding Covid-19 delay

Posted by BPV on Apr 06 2020 at 09:33PM PDT in 2020

The on-field beginning of the 2020 Bettendorf-Pleasant Valley Youth Baseball season has been delayed again, with May 1 now the earliest start date.

Local schools remain closed until at least April 30, and the cities of Bettendorf and Le Claire each has banned the use of baseball diamonds, along with other park amenities such as shelters and playgrounds as a precaution, until that same time.

However, BPV’s all-volunteer Board of Directors continues behind-the-scenes work so the season can begin as soon as circumstances allow. Any adjustments to the league calendar will be shared as soon as social gathering guidelines are relaxed.

Teams will be forming soon, and registration remains open at The sign-up link, and more information about our program, including financial assistance, is available on this website. Refunds/credits also will be available if needed at a later date.

Coaches meetings are delayed until gatherings larger than 10 people are again allowed, but all interested coaches are encouraged to contact their division rep if they haven’t already done so to ensure their involvement. The contacts for coaches:

Coach Pitch (Grades 1-3): Tyler Driever,
Kid Pitch (Grade 3/advanced): Ron Johns,
Minors (Grades 4-5): Matt Wood,
Majors (Grades 6-7): Dan Escontrias,
Juniors (Grades 8-9): Tyler Driever,
Seniors (ages 15-20): Steve Tappa,

For sponsorship questions, contact Escontrias or Driever. Please contact Tappa if interested in umpiring.

Thank you for your patience during this challenging time. Please remain safe!
