Support BPV through Birdies for Charity!
BPV charity number: 1834
This summer’s John Deere Classic has been canceled because of continuing COVID-19 restrictions around events and public gatherings in Illinois.
However, the local PGA Tour stop still is offering the tournament’s standard-setting Birdies for Charity campaign. The fundraiser raised $13.8 million for 543 organizations last year, including Bettendorf-Pleasant Valley Youth Baseball.
The tournament runs the BFC, so there are no administrative costs — thus each charity receives 100-percent of all the funds pledged and collected on that charity’s behalf.
The JDC and title sponsor John Deere pledged the 2020 charity participants also will receive at least a five-percent bonus, as usual, despite this year’s shutdown.
Instead of distributing pledge cards this year, charity’s are encouraged to have donors make their pledges electronically to reduce the number of paper touch points normally involved in the process.
To donate, visit: https://birdiesforcharity.com/donate. Be sure to use BPV’s charity identification number, 1834.
Each penny pledge received will be converted to a flat $20 donation, and all donors will be eligible for a random drawing for the traditional prizes, including the grand prize of a 2-year lease on a Lexus NX sports utility vehicle.
